The Divergent Series: Insurgent
Just in case it was unclear that this movie was a sequel to Divergent, and a part of the Divergent series, they decided to include "The Divergent Series" in the title. Nice.
I actually did not see Divergent in theaters, but when I finally did watch it I really liked it. In fact, by the end I liked it better than any of the Hunger Games movies. And after two hours of Shailene Woodley, I was like, "Who's Jennifer Lawrence?" I really was that impressed.
Interestingly though, I'm still not completely excited for this one. I'll likely see it, but I'm kinda feeling the same way about this as I did about Divergent before seeing it. That is, I'm expecting good action, a story that is interesting enough, and awesome acting from Shailene Woodley. It should be solid.
The Divergent Series: Insurgent is rated PG-13 for intense violence and action throughout, some sensuality, thematic elements and brief language.
Do You Believe?
Another in a recent string of faith-based films. It's an expanding genre, and I think in the next few years we might even see critical success there. The poster for this one is a little bit uninspired though, I gotta say (pun intended).
From the trailer I gather that this is the Christian version of 2005's Crash. It's a movie about a dozen different people whose lives intersect and intertwine throughout the story.
Do You Believe? is rated PG-13 for thematic elements, an accident sequence and some violence.
The Gunman
I hate Sean Penn's acting.
This is a straightforward shoot 'em up. He works for these guys, turns out they're bad, they kidnap his wife, he goes after them.
At least Javier Bardem has an almost-normal haircut in this movie.
The Gunman is rated R for strong violence, language and some sexuality.
