Box Office Predictions for 2014

I am no expert.  Let me make that clear.  I am no expert at predicting what movie will take the number one spot on any given weekend.  Some are obvious and anyone could guess correctly.  But there are other weekends that are not so obvious.  This is my first time trying anything like this and I am excited and even a bit nervous to see how I do.  I've paid attention to movies for a long time now, but I don't pay very close attention to box office numbers.  At least not weekend box office numbers.  Without further ado, here are my predictions for what movie will have the number one spot for each weekend in 2014.

NOTE: Some of the dates you will see are not Fridays or even weekends.  And some weekends are skipped entirely.  That's just the way it goes with movies around certain holidays.

January

26th: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

December

12th: Paddington

17th: The Hobbit: There and Back Again

24th: The Hobbit: There and Back Again

* * *

And as an added bonus I predict these five movies will make the most money out of all of them (in order from most money to least money).

1. The Hobbit: There and Back Again

2. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

3. How to Train Your Dragon 2

4. X-Men: Days of Future Past

5. Interstellar

For me this should be a fun little test of skill.  For you it might be nothing at all, but feel free to follow along as the year progresses to see how accurate I am.  And remember, movies like How to Train Your Dragon 2 will be done with their theatrical run before The Hobbit: There and Back Again is even released, so we will have to wait until well into the spring of 2015 before we will know if my top box office predictions are correct.  Patience is a virtue.
