Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
What it's about:
Apparently in the years following the incredible disaster that was depicted in Jurassic World (that would be the eating/maiming of park attendees by the dinosaurs they came to see), there has arisen a sort of animal rights movement to protect the live dinosaurs. And a volcano is about to erupt on the dinosaur island place. #savethedinos
Does it look good?
Looks fun, but probably not good.
Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of science-fiction violence and peril.
Sicario: Day of the Soldado
What it's about:
As the marketing team for the first movie reminded us every chance they got, Sicario means "hitman". I had to google soldado. It means soldier. So Benicio's character goes from hitman to soldier in this sequel. Basically, the CIA dude (Brolin) teams up with Benicio again and they go to take down some cartels.
Does it look good?
No. This looks like an unnecessary and uninspired sequel.
Rated R for strong violence, bloody images, and language.
Uncle Drew
What it's about:
An amateur basketball tournament organizer loses his star player and ends up in a bind. He meets Uncle Drew, a legendary street player from the past who is old but good. They form a new team to enter the tournament (starring many former NBA players).
Does it look good?
This one looks pretty funny actually. Along the lines of those Tyler Perry comedies.
Rated PG-13 for suggestive material, language and brief nudity.
The First Purge
What it's about:
Prequel to the Purge franchise. So it's the first time the government laid out a plan for a twelve hour period where all crime is legal. This time it's only in one part of NYC, not the whole country. Since, you know, it makes perfect sense to risk destroying your nation's financial capitol overnight.
Does it look good?
I'm not into horror movies, so no, it doesn't.
Rated R for strong disturbing violence throughout, pervasive language, some sexuality and drug use.
Ant-Man and the Wasp
What it's about:
Sequel to Ant-Man. It takes place before Avengers: Infinity War. This one is going to be much more about the quantum realm that was touched on in the first film. Hank Pym still wants to find his wife who was lost there.
Does it look good?
Yeah! Looks like a lot of fun! Not earth-shattering like Infinity War, but we could use a good cinematic chill pill after Infinity War.
Rated PG-13 for some sci-fi action violence.
